Former US President Donald Trump has made it public that he knows who his vice presidential pick will be ahead of the upcoming General Election.

Speaking during his campaign in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 22, Trump disclosed he has an idea of who will be his running-mate in the upcoming Presidential election.

The controversial politician also gave a clue about his or her likely debate night plans.

When asked by an NBC News reporter whether he had decided on his running-mate during a Philadelphia campaign stop, Trump said;

“In my mind, yeah,”

The business magnet turned politician added that his vice presidential pick will “most likely” be present during the upcoming Thursday’s debate against President Joe Biden.

“They’ll be there. I think we have a lot of people coming.” He added.

According to the aspirant, nobody knows his pick yet.

Media reports had earlier indicated that Donald Trump has been eyeing Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as possible top contenders for the slot.

NBC News reported that sources intimate to Trump’s team hissed that Burgum and Vance are considered the top two finalists on the list.

Team Trump’s senior political adviser, Brian Hughes disclosed in a public statement that the campaign’s top criterion for selecting a running mate “is a strong leader who will make a great President for eight years after his next four year term concludes.

Donald Trump has been up and down holding informal policy sessions with his confidants including possible vice presidential contenders ahead of the much-awaited debate.

It should be noted that Vance had earlier spoken with Trump about the economy and inflation.

On the other hand, Rubio met with Trump when the former president was in D.C. earlier this month (June 2024).

Pennsylvania is expected to be an important state for Trump to bag majority of support on his road back to the White House.

The former US president earlier revealed that he plans to name his vice presidential pick “right around the convention.”

“Maybe a little before, but could be at the convention. But we’ll have some great people.” He disclosed.

The Republican National Convention, at which delegates from across the country will officially nominate the party’s candidates for president and vice president, is set to be held from July 15, all the way to June 18, in Milwaukee.
