Kenyan rapper Octopizzo has caused a melee online after bagging the HipHop Artiste Of The Year Award at the just concluded East African Arts And Entertainment Awards(EAEA).
Being a revered HipHop artiste in Kenya, the rapper deserved the nomination and subsequent win but netizens thought otherwise.
MGAHAWANI.com understands several Kenyan and Tanzanian artistes were on Sunday, April 14, celebrated and treated to various awards by the EAEA.

The widely covered event saw numerous artistes bag awards in different categories.
Among them was Octopizzo who went home with two awards; The Outstanding Community Service Award for his Octopizzo Foundation and the HipHop Artiste Of The Year Award.
While many Kenyans lauded him for his first award, quite a number had issue with the second one.

A multitude of netizens called out the Awards organisers for giving the rapper the HipHop Artiste Of The Year Award.
According to countless netizens, the rapper did not deserve the aforementioned award because he has been missing in action for a minute.
Taking to different social media pages to express their disappointments, netizens insisted that rappers such as Khaligraph Jones, Breeder, Wakadinali and others deserved the award more.

Music lovers noted that other HipHop artistes have been putting in work and dropping hit songs all year round, unlike Octopizzo whose last song release was a couple of months ago.
A section of netizens even dubbed the whole award a scam, with others labelling it “Chebukati Awards”.
Neither Octopizzo nor the event’s organisers had responded to the attacks as at the time of filing this report.
Other notable names who bagged awards during the gala include Juacali, Rayvanny, Jaysoul, Bien Aime among others.
