The philanthropic media personality, through her foundation, Gladys Mungai Foundation recently put a smile on the faces of over 50 children from Dandora slums after successfully enabling their mission back to school.

MGAHAWANI.com has exclusively learnt that Gladys Mungai, her foundation, friends and other well-wishers made it easy for many parents after donating books, stationeries and uniform to a number of students as they prepared for back to school.

The Gladys Mungai Foundation distributed back-to-school packages filled with notebooks, pencils and other essential supplies needed by the students in their studies.

Being a revered journalist, Gladys picked a registered children’s home, Ndoto Zetu Centre, located in Dandora, where she poured out love in form of donations in different forms.

This writer understands Gladys Mungai Foundation not only donated back to school items to the children living in the informal settlement but also foodstuffs and clothes they could use while at home.

The drive, according to Gladys Mungai Foundation Director was a beacon of light for many families struggling to prepare their children for the new school year amidst the challenges posed by the floods.

Speaking during an exclusive phone interview with MGAHAWANI.com, Gladys Mungai stated that the donation was in line with her foundation’s commitment to education and community support.

The news anchor could not help but thank volunteers, well-wishers and other Kenyans who rallied behind her in enduring a number of kids from Dandora go back to school, stress free.

“I want to thank all the well-wishers, volunteers and other people who donated towards this course. As Gladys Mungai Foundation, we are glad that we have managed to help over 50 children to go back to school without stressing their parents and guardians who are already struggling.” Gladys told this publication.

The scribe insisted that the philanthropic drives are not just for aid distribution but also a celebration of hope, education, and community resilience, something she has been pushing for some years now.

It should be noted that the KBC news anchor has been on the forefront in championing for the development and success of youths who make up a big portion of the country’s population.

Mungai’s latest philanthropic move comes about 3 years after officially launching her own foundation, Gladys Mungai Foundation.

The journalist launched her foundation on her birthday in 2020 all in a bid to advocate for Mental Health and youth mentorship.

In her Birthday note, the lass said that the Gladys Mungai Foundation would be focusing on the youth, women and mental health related issues (awareness, counselling and treatment).

The TV queen added that the foundation will also act as an avenue for her to give back to the society.
