Exorbitant Prices Of William Ruto, Family’s Outfits During US State Visit Anger Kenyans

President William Ruto , the Kenyan First Lady and their three daughters on Monday, June 20, arrived in the US ahead of their official state visit.

Well, the First Family touched down in America thanks to an official invite from US President Joe Bidden and the White House.

The state visit, rather tour was a success as Kenya managed to solidify it’s partnership and ties with the US.

It was also an important visit since it marked 60 years of official US and Kenya partnership.

Important US State Visit

Innitially, the visit caused a melee online with quite a number of people condemning Ruto and his government of splurging Kenya’s finances through the visit.

No sooner had the debate on the Presidential expenditure during the tour subsided than Kenyan rose with yet another issue; this time, over the price of outfits won by the Kenyan President and his daughters during the tour.

A random Kenyan, Shelmie Muliro sparked mixed reactions on social media after taking her time to analyse the cost of outfits worn by Ruto himself and his daughters during the US state visit.

In her analysis, the social media commentator pointed out the exorbitance the First Family enjoyed during the tour even as Kenya grapples with high cost of living.

Muliro used one photo in which Ruto and his family were spotted with US TV guru, Steve Harvey.

Expensive Kenyan President

In the specific photo, Muliro disclosed that Ruto and his daughters went overboard with their spending, rocking expensive outfits at the expense of Kenyan taxpayers.

For starters, the Kenyan President’s youngest daughter was spotted rocking a dress worth over KSh 50,000 on the day the First Family met Steve Harvey for photo OPs.

President Ruto’s other daughter stepped out looking all lovely in a KSh 82,000 dress suit on their first day in America.

The Kenyan President himself decided to go economical with his outfit for the day.

Muliro, however, reminded her followers that Ruto may have rocked a not so expensive outfit during the state visit but should not be exempted from the list of people who is not shy of splurging the country’s money on luxury.

“Fighting with a guy whose watch can buy your entire existence. He can’t understand that you don’t have money because his watch alone is KSh 6 million,” she captioned a photo of Ruto rocking a pricey timepiece.

Finance Bill 2024

Her ‘expose’ came barely hours after 204 MPs voted Yes in the Finance Bill 2024.

It should be noted Kenyans have in the past few months been complaining of the high cost of living in the country.

Many even took to the streets to oppose the Finance Bill 2024, holding that Kenyans are being over-taxed all in a bid to accord greedy politicians opulence.
